English serves as a second language around the world for non-native English speakers. It helps us understand and conquer the challenges that we encounter every day. If you are proficient in English, you would absolutely be ready to attain the highest quality of life and get your desires. English is definitely important nowadays because all companies in different industries require applicants and even employees to be literate in English. For example, in a call center, all employees should have fluency in speaking, writing and following instructions in English. A teacher should also have better skill in English in all aspects, since English is used as their methods of instruction. All subjects or courses that we study in school are being taught in English. Fast-food employees are also required to speak in English in serving their customers. Secretaries of different companies are also required to set an appointment, send reports, and answer phone calls in English. Parents play an important role in their children’s education. They are the persons who take responsibilities and they are also concern on whatever problems and situations their children might encounter. They should be aware of their children’s needs and what would be the best thing they can do to make their children feel comfortable in their college life.  Every parent needs to consider things that could possibly happen to their children especially if their children are away from home. So parents should be careful and should plan every decision they have to make.

The first thing that a parent should do is to check on  what university or school they are going to send their children and know what will be the field of study they are planning to take up. Be the first to know the information about the future environment of their children’s journey for four or more years. Parents should always bear in mind that when their children are starting to enter a university, they are getting into the age of legality where more personal issues and concerns or even making decisions for themselves are taking part without the presence of their parents. Talk to your sons and daughters. Discuss with them some sensitive issues like sex, money, pregnancy, party, drugs, drinking, smoking, etc. These are uncomfortable to talk about, but be natural! It is going to be awkward, but let them face the reality. You can help them realize to do what is right and avoid the consequences if they are planning to do one of these things. Next, make a plan and let them know. Decide how often are you going to communicate with them while they are away from home, when are you going to visit, and when will they come home. Give them freedom, but let them know their limitations without suffocating them. Always give them advice. They still need you. Whenever your child will encounter problems while they are away and you received phone calls about it, try to ask a couple of questions and let them explain why it happened. I believe parents want to rescue their children and they can solve the issue, but if you think they can solve it by themselves, let them find the resolution. Don't be so quick to fix the problem yourself. Teach your student how to get out and fix the problem by himself or herself. This is your time to move on and treat them like adults. But it does not mean you can now stop from being a parent to them. Always listen to them and be a shoulder for your children to lean on whenever they feel like they can no longer carry the stressful path of their journey in college life. Be a friend, be a comforter and above all be the first to reach them out. A parent will always be a parent.

In Choosing the Right Major

When you were in high school, you were so excited to be in college and wanted to experience college life. You were always imagining how exciting and challenging your life would be. College life is not as easy as what you think and definitely not a joke, so you have to keep everything planned and certain.

First, think of what aspect you are good at, what subject in high school do you excel, and what do you want to do in your future life? Choose a profession that you want to be. It will help you decide what field of study you are going to obtain. Always consider things that interest you the most. Also ponder the factors that are part of the journey that you want to pursue. Select a major that interests you the most and can provide the information and training that you can use in the future. Financial aspects, family, and environment can also be a great factor in this matter. It is good to study if everything goes smoothly with your resources and your emotional and physical wellbeing. In choosing your major, try to answer these questions; “Why are you interested on this particular field or major? Will you really have the chance to succeed if you are going to choose this major?” Analysing these kind of questions make you think deeper and do careful steps in choosing your major since a lot of factors will be affected if you fail to decide for the best.

If you think you already chose a major that you are going to study to build your career, be confident and be certain on the next step that you have to undergo. Be the best and answer the interviewer with full of guts and be knowledgeable in answering the questions that are being thrown at you as part of your admission examination in the University that you want to enrol. Always remember that the major you have chosen is really the desire of your heart, not just because your parents wanted you to choose. This is just your first step in a challenging path that your about to travel in developing the foundation of the kind of life will you have in the near future. The main challenge is when you pursue knowledge on the field of study that you chose and also in discovering important things and ideas on the said scope. It is necessary that you study not just because you want to gain something but instead accepting and embracing the future career that you are going to build out of the major that you have chosen. Apply every single thing and idea that you have learned in your everyday life so that you will be able to use it when the right time comes.

MAXIMIZING THE LIMITED STUDENT RESOURCES

The student life is one of the most exciting and enjoyable stage in our life. It gives us the opportunity to explore things we have not been through. But in spite of the excitement and thrill on the campus and the community the problem of having limited resources will hinder the activities we intend to explore. The fact that being a student, we are still subject to the rules and the budget our parents are giving us for our everyday student life. Let me underline some tips on how to save and maximize our limited resources as a student, to wit: 

1) Make a budget out of the limited resources your parents are entitling you every month.  This will let you see how well you can manage your resources and discipline yourself.

2) Open a bank account to a bank that respects you and make sure you save a percentage of your allowance for emergency and urgent needs. This will prepare you for life’s uncertainties that need monetary expenses.

3) Instead of throwing out some damaged clothing, repair it. Don’t toss out a shirt because of a broken button but instead sew a new one on with some closely-matched thread. Don’t toss out pants because of a hole in them – put in a patch of some sort and save them for times when you’re working around the house. Simple sewing can be done by anyone and it can save you lots of money by keeping you from buying new clothes when you don’t really need to.

 4) Drink more water. Not only does drinking plenty of water have great health benefits, water drinking has financial benefits, too.  Drink a big glass of water before each meal, and not only will you digest it better, you won’t eat as much, thus saving on your food expenses. You will also find yourself feeling a bit better as you begin to get adequately hydrated.

5) Give up expensive habits, like cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. These habits cause money to flow away from you with nothing in return. Make yourself busy by studying often and by going to the school library to research and get updated with current events.

6) Swap books, music, and DVDs cheaply with your friends and classmates or on the internet. You can easily swap these entertainment materials that you’ve grown bored with via the internet or through your friends and classmates so that you will have a new material to indulge in.  

7) Maximize your money on yard sales. Do not disregard yard sales; you might end up getting things that will help you much in your student life. Always ask for a good bargain price and make sure the things you buy will be worth the price that you will be paying.

These are just small things that can definitely help you save money and maximize your limited resources as a student. Be responsible!

WHY DO I HAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE

Being a student is the happiest and the most memorable experience yet the most competitive stage of one’s life. Why?  Because this is the stage where you prepare yourself to encounter the real meaning of life or what life is. Your endeavour in life will start when you reach university life. This is the new chapter where you will explore and broaden your interests, meet new friends, set your lifelong goals and the preparation to encounter the challenge of the deceiving world.

Choosing a university is also a major aspect in starting your college life. Of course you have to consider the field of study that you wanted to take up. Second, the quality of education a university can impart to you. Next, is the financial aspect like how much would it cost if you are going to attend that certain university. And lastly, check the location of the university that you will be attending to, if it is near the basic facilities you need like hospitals, churches, stores and other institutions.

Going to college or university is a big break for you to prepare yourself for your future life. Unlike high school, college is the stage on which you will have to focus in studying your chosen field or profession. College is a time to test yourself and see what you can achieve.  You will also be able to continue your own interests and perhaps discover a career direction you have never imagined or you will also discover a talent that has been waiting to bloom. A college education will help you acquire the knowledge in various major subjects that you wish to study. It will also increase your ability to express your thoughts clearly and to make wise decisions which you can use when you enter the real world. Planning your college education is the best thing that you have to do so that you will have a continuous and hassle free outline of your future and what you want to do with your life.

Another reason why you need to go to college is to pursue a career or employment opportunity that requires a college-level education qualification and skills. College is an investment that will increase your future earnings for yourself and for your family and will definitely pay back for a lifetime.
